Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, fiends, and sinister influences growing in power within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might seem mismatched, but the events of episode 3 show why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group knows exactly where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, wants retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could enable the party access areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them few options but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Questers and Schemers tables.
