Fall Classic Final Game Draws Over 50 Million Viewers In the United States, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The thrilling extended clash where the Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run drew a combined 51 million spectators across the US, Canadian, and Japan territories. Major League Baseball announced this represents the highest-rated World Series finale after the 1991 edition showdown between the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

The Saturday epic contest averaged 27.33 million viewers on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and their digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It also stands as the most-watched Fall Classic game after the 2017 edition final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This marks a sixteen percent improvement over the previous finale featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed 4th, Game 4 was 7th, Game 5 was eighth, and Game 3 finished in 13th place.

Global Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the game recorded over 11 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports channel. This made it the most-watched English program in Canada since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game started at 9 p.m. local time, it drew 12 million viewers. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – where World Series MVP Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – recorded over 13 million viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a single network in the country.

Series Totals and Trends

The entire seven-match World Series drew over 15.7 million audience members on the Fox network, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has seen viewership growth for two straight seasons.

Counting the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the total American average was 16.1 million. The overall World Series viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full playoffs on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09 million viewers, an 8% rise compared to the previous year and Fox’s best postseason performance since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball announced that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen different languages.
