The star has handed over the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound award prize money to the trust for venues, which functions to preserve the United Kingdom's independent music venues.

Fender was presented with the award on mid-October as his new release the album was named the best record of the last 12 months.

Fender has decided to hand the money over to the trust, in recognition of the essential function grassroots venues had in his beginning days.

"As an artist wouldn't be doing this success if it wasn't for all the shows I did around the North East, and beyond, when I was beginning," remarked the artist. "These locations are legendary, but they are facing challenges."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these locations have ceased operations – approximately 16 percent of the whole industry in the UK.

In the last year, major artists like the band Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the trust in its attempts to keep the scene afloat, by including a modest fee to their ticket prices, which goes to help local stages.

Fender also participated, collecting more than £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to assist numerous local spots across England, Scotland, and Wales.

These funds assisted locations that were confronting imminent closure due to challenges stemming from flooding, fires and family tragedies, as well as permit problems, court cases and neighbor objections.

Other venues obtained funding support in improving infrastructure and gear that positively impacted artists and fans.

"The idea that money from shows in major spaces backs the independent spots, where it kicks off for artists like me, is just logical," the star has said.

The musician is not the first artist to donate his honor funds to worthy causes.

Back when Pulp earned the award in 1996 for their album their work, vocalist Cocker stated that the act would contribute their cash to the charity War Child.

That year, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite shared her award between a few charities, including the NSPCC and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"I also contributed a thousand pounds to the center, to their gymnastics class, because I did gymnastics when I was growing up and they needed updated gear," the artist told the media.

Two years ago, Ezra Collective contributed their prize money to the community center that nurtured their group, as well as other grassroots music organisations.

Additionally 1994 winners M People donated their award to a MS organization after a close contact was found to have the disease.

"Receiving the award was ample," stated singer Heather Small. "The money was the extra but we didn't need the bonus, because we had the honor. So our winning impacted somebody else's life."

Recently, the trust shared it had saved a couple of small stages in the South East, by placing them under public stewardship.

The Joiners in Southampton and The Croft in Bristol were bought under the Own Our Venues initiative, which is supported by the arts council and enthusiasts who buy "shares" in the properties.
